​​In library class, students chose animals they were interested in learning about and researched them. They highlighted important facts from database articles and were introduced to basic note taking strategies. Then they composed sentences from their notes. They learned about their animals' adaptations in science class.

Students found images of their animals on ​Britannica Image Quest, and used them as templates in the art studio to create these collages. They used fine papers just like author illustrator Steve Jenkins used in his extraordinary books about animals.
